Sustainable NLP

Making NLP models run efficiently both on small form factor devices and on data centers, to improve power consumption and latency.

SBUWear

Using wearable devices to improve the accessibility and usability of smartphone applications.

Webgaze

Improving the "perceptual" performance of Web page loads by leveraging user's eye gaze.

WProfX

Significantly improving mobile page load performance by studying the fundamental bottlenecks in the mobile page load process.

News

  • September 17: Aruna receives two NSF grants with her Co-PIs, one on using gaze tracking for Web performance and the other on extending smartphone UIs to smartwatches. 

  • August 2017: Yi presented a poster on rethinking TCP throughput, and Mallesh and Conor presented a poster on hardware bottlenecks in Web browsing  at Sigcomm 2017

  • August, 2017: UIWear accepted at MobiCom 2017. Congratulations to Jian and Qingqing. UIWear also accepted as a demo at MobiCom.

  • June 2017: It is internship time. Jian-->Samsung Research, Conor-->ICSI, Qingqing-->Bell Labs

  • June 2017: The Girls Who Code club that Aruna facilitated at the Comsewogue Library celebrated a successful year. News story here

  • May 2017: MobiRNN paper accepted at EMDL workshop colocated with MobiSys 2017.

  • February 2017: An article about PrIA appeared in the MIT Technology Review, was featured in the Stony Brook News (starts at 5.13), and Publico's technology newsletter (in Portuguese).
